No programming knowledge? No problem!

Business Rules, which are delivered right out-of-the-box with Dynamics CRM, tackle client side logic in a user friendly way, allowing virtually anyone that is responsible for managing their company’s CRM to get off and running with this fantastic tool in no time.

In a nutshell, this little gem allows you to create and add form design functions to the system and custom entities without a lick of development. Through “If…Then…Else” conditional statements, you too can create rules which monitor the behaviour of fields and subsequently define an action or actions to be taken upon the conditions being met.

Gone are the days of reaching out to developers for JavaScript and plug-ins each and every time a requirement rears its head. Don’t get me wrong – it’s not some sort of magic potion that will make all your wishes come true. But, you are bound to dazzle your users (and your boss), with fields that seamlessly appear just when they need them; field values which auto-complete right before their very eyes; field requirements changing on the fly, ensuring the most relevant data is always captured; and error messages, or what I prefer to call ‘reminder messages’ which prompt users to conform to best business practices. With a little creativity and some business logic in tow, Business Rules can do all that and so much more!

Still on the fence on what Business Rules on Dynamics CRM can do for you? Check these out.

Business Rules 1  Business Rules 1.1 Business Rules 1.2

Here’s a quick guide to find the Business Rules section:

From your Solution section, select either the Fields option or Business Rules option beneath an entity.

Business Rules 2        Business Rules 2.1

You can also access Business Rules from the Home tab in the ribbon of the Main Form of an entity or from the Field Properties of a field placed on the form.

Business Rules 3    Business Rules 3.1

Upper management will be thrilled by how the implementation of a handful of well-planned and thought through Business Rules can simplify processes, effectively promote data integrity, and, most importantly, have all of your CRM users working synchronously.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is set to see a substantial update this spring, with the release of Carina. This will serve as the first major update to the new CRM 2015.  Although an exact date for its release is yet to be determined, CRM users and partners are abuzz with the features and added functionality that Carina promises. Here are some notable features that can be expected:

1. Enhanced Excel Integration

The new update will allow Excel users to open their data in spreadsheets within CRM. This serves as a valuable feature for quick visibility and analysis of data, and eliminates any compatibility issues that may arise should you have a different version of Excel installed.

2. OneNote Online Integration

Users can now take notes, create voice memos, capture photos and clip web pages from any mobile device (such as iPads or Android phones) and attach them to CRM using OneNote.

3. Improved Mobile Capabilities

Users can expect a more consistent experience across different interfaces, whether on desktops, tablets or mobile phones. Charts and graphs can also be viewed and edited on mobile phones.

4. Customizable Themes

CRM now offers a feature where themes can be customized to match a specific company’s colour scheme or branding. Users can customize themes other than the ones offered on CRM by utilizing the theme builder form to create themes using HTML codes. This new feature also allows for custom logos to be easily added into the overall look of the theme.

5. New Navigation = Better User Interface

Expect less time devoted to scrolling with CRM’s quicker navigational interface. Carina features a more stack-focused interface where sub-menus can easily be viewed and users can access more information at a glance.

5 CRM Features Your Company Needs

5 Features

Looking beyond the dozens of features that various CRM Systems have to offer, there are specific features which your CRM system must adequately provide to ensure your business is able to attract and retain customers successfully.  Here are 5 CRM Features your company needs and should look out for:

Remote Access

Your CRM System should give your employees access to customer information remotely from any location and device. Remote access is critical to obtain real-time information as well as provide your employees a way to update your CRM system with vital information on clients and partners.

Security

If you are a company where there is an overlap between departments in terms of roles and responsibilities, it would be easy for the wrong person to gain access to confidential information from your CRM system. It's important to put in measures which monitor what information is accessed through your CRM system. Additionally, encrypted access and a secure server is important if you're remotely accessing your company's real-time information from your CRM system.

Decision-making Analytics

Your CRM system should aid your company in improving customer service, resolving customer issues, tracking customer behavior, among other areas your company can gain critical insight.

Customization

Your solutions partner should customize your system with all the unique applications and add-ons to fit the growing needs of your company. Bear in mind that your CRM system should last for years and keep pace with modern technology.

Reporting

Your CRM system should be customized to generate reports to help your business make decisions that are based on real-time information and facts. It's important to have a CRM system that will generate reports periodically so that you stay up-to-date on the business activities of your company.
